Jeeping at Peacock Flats

What a day. One of Kevins very favorite things to do is take his beloved jeep mountain and rock crawling. He loves interacting with other people that share the same love for 4 wheeling and jeeps as he does. This morning we got up at 630 and met on post at around 8. We then headed out towards Kaena Point to Peacock Flats with about 10 other jeeps. Almost as soon as we got on the trail, our jeep started acting up. Differential fluid was leaking which upset Kevin, but we decided to go on ahead and just not use air lockers. That was a bad decision. I will show you why

Please excuse my mini heart attacks :) That stuff was scary without lockers and the fact that he was getting bad "lines" to get up the obstacle. Also, because Kevins jeep is a few inches higher than the other jeeps, his chance of flipping over is greatly increased. "Betty" did make it up a couple other obstacles before we made the decision to head back down the mountain

These arent Bettys original doors...someone gave Kevin some red half doors and we decided to try them out today

We were pretty upset because we never finish a wheeling trip early, and Betty really let us down (plus Kevins says the spotters werent very good). So now Kevin has to get new air lockers, which arent cheap :( Never the less, we headed back down the mountain and decided to take some pictures of the view since we did make it pretty far up!

The views up to and back from this location were wonderful! Kevin says he will stick to rock crawling, but I told him I would love to hike up those trails sometime! Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Hanauma Bay

Today Kevin and I ventured over to Hanauma Bay! It is located north of the Diamond Head crater and is protected by being part of a natural preserve. When we got there, we had to watch a brief video on the bay and some simple instructions to follow if we were swimming or snorkeling. All of the wildlife in the bay is federally and state protected, which means we can look and take pictures all we want, but we cant touch them. No problem! Before we watched the video and went down to the water, I took some pictures!

Hanauma Bay

Its reeeeaallly faint, but the flatter island in the back is Molokai, and even fainter on the left behind it, the taller one is Maui!

This one is really faint too but directly under the clouds is the island of Lanai

I was hoping the pictures of the neighboring islands would come out better, but they were only faintly visible from where we were. It was cool though!! Once we got down to the beach we didnt waste any time getting the snorkel gear on and getting in the water

Unfortuneatly, these are the only pictures I got of fish. Why you ask? Because the snorkel sets we bought were faulty!!! Yeah, they kept leaking water in, so Kevin and I decided to invest in some better equipment and save the longer snorkeling trip for next weekend =( The water is really clear though and the beach is beautiful! After we left the beach, we decided to go to dinner at the resteraunt on the air force base since its right on the beach! A few more pictures of the afternoon!

Every picture was still Hanauma bay, the last one is the sunset from our seat at the resteraunt. Thats pretty much it for today, tomorrow we are going 4 wheeling with the Jeep to a place called Peacock Flats with a few of Kevins co-workers. It should be fun and I get to meet new people! Furlough Friday

Ah yes, I have a feeling that "Furlough Friday" will be a good thing and a bad thing. Furlough Friday basically means you have the day off. From what I understand, the state is cutting back on things. Well, the DMV is a participant. Good for them, bad for me. I wanted to get my registration taken care of so I could finish the safety inspection process. Yes its a process here. First, I get the car inspected by the guy at the auto skills shop. Then, he gives me a paper to take to the DMV. Then, the DMV gives me another paper proving that I registered my car with the state to take back to Auto Skills shop guy , where he applies the inspection sticker. Does anyone else feel like a tennis ball?? So of course after my car was inspected, the guy gave me the paper then told me that the DMV was closed due to furlough Friday. So Monday it is then! Oh, and Furlough Friday can be a good thing--if I get a job where they participate in furlough Friday, guess who gets three day weekends--this gal =)
On the plus side, Kevin had a half day today and got off work at noon! We went to the store and picked up some stuff for my mom's birthday and for my ex sis in laws birthday (we are still really good friends) as well as some souvenirs and such for my neice!
I really wanted to swim after we got all of our stuff done. I was kinda bummed that for the past 3 days its been raining. Overcast and rainy. Boo. Eh no worries though--we are going snorkeling tomorrow at Hanauma Bay, yay!!! I havent been snorkeling in like 6 years, and Kevin has never been so Im really excited!! We bought some snorkel gear the other day, so we are ready! I will be taking lots of pictures as well =)

On a side note, I reeeeeaaallly wanted to go to the Daughtry concert tonight but we got back to the hotel too late so we couldnt go :( Ah well maybe next time =) Night y'all!
