Wow, its already December 15th!

Photobucket
Winter in Hawaii is definitely taking some getting used to! Today I had all of my friends back home updating facebook statuses with, "Its snowing!", or "Yay! Snow!". Let me tell you about my hometown. It really doesnt snow . However, when it does snow (even a dusting), my little neck of the woods goes crazy! Its like shut the city down! I'll give you an example: My friend Rosie (whos also a milspouse) lives in Yorktown. It hadnt even snowed yet, it had only been forecasted at this point, and they closed schools for tomorrow. This also happened last year! The city goes crazy! We could have less than 3" on the ground, and the news and weather people are calling it "Winter Blast (year here)". Ridiculous, just plain looney! Of course, none of this affected me, because the company that I worked at was still open for business (when everything else was closed), and we were expected to show up on time. On a side note, the only business day they closed was the day of Hurricane Isabel on Sept 18,2003 and that was only because 90% of the employees were mandatory evacuated! I went to the commissary, had a farewell lunch for one of Kevins coworkers at The Shack, went to the PX, went to the post office (again), vaccuumed the upstairs and downstairs, and made homemade meatloaf for the first time ever. I just kept going otherwise my muscles would stiffen up again, much like they are probably doing right now! Ive been stretching all day, so I hope that helps because I really want to go to spin class tomorrow morning!
Thats pretty much all for today! After the gym tomorrow, I plan on coming home and cleaning the bathrooms...and all of my housework will be done for the week!!! Good night yall!

Another productive day!

Photobucket
This morning I got up at 7am. I actually got an okay nights sleep last night, so I ate breakfast and headed to spin class. I didnt rest once during class! I really pushed myself and got an amazing workout--Im very proud of myself! Im hoping to get a workout like that again on Thursday when I go :)
After spin, I immediately went over to the PX to pick up the rest of the gifts for the little ones. Then I ran over to the UPS store and got 2 big boxes to put all of the stuff in for Kevins family and mine. Then, I went straight home and wrapped and boxed every present to send out, plus filled out Christmas cards to drop in the boxes. Then, I went to the post office to wait in the long line to ship them off! I was convinced they would be closed by that time (it was 315 at this point) but they were still open and the boxes went out today. The cost? $105.00.....to get them there before Christmas*. Dear sweet Jesus! I know for a fact it will take less than 7 business days via regular mail, but the lady tried to tell me otherwise because its peak season. Oh well I want those gifts to get there before Christmas so that the neices and nephews have something to open from Uncle Kevin and Aunt Jen :)
*-not a plus side to living in Hawaii
After the post office, I was going to go to the commissary for a few items but I was still doubled over sick from the price at the post office, so I decided I will go tomorrow morning. Yes, on payday. Im insane, I know this. Nothing that listening to my ipod while shopping cant fix ;)
When I got home, I decided that my productivity streak wasnt over. I cleaned the kitchen, started the dishwasher, started the laundry, and started dinner. Now, almost all of the laundry is done, the kitchen is still clean, I have a fat n' happy husband, and all is well and right with the world! Going non-stop for almost 12 hours straight kinda made me sleepy though, so Im going to finish up this blog and head on upstairs.
Tomorrow, its the commissary in the early am, followed by the vaccuming of the upstairs, sweeping/swiffering of the downstairs, and the cleaning of the bathrooms. I may even head to the gym tomorrow afternoon if I can get all of my chores done before Kevin's lunch is over. I skipped the gym on Monday because of Tripler, so my off days were switched :)
How was your day today??

A case of the Mondays

Photobucket
Today was an early day for Kevin and I. He got up at 540 and I got up at 6, and headed down to Tripler for a couple of appointments Kevin had this morning. The first one was informative, and the 2nd one (MRI) we wish wouldve gone better. The folks at the MRI center were really annoying. First, Kevins doc asked that he get an MRI with contrast dye so that she could see a better picture. She was aware that he has allergies to the dye, so she had us run down to the pharmacy to get allergy medicine before getting the images taken. Then his doc recommended we ask for an additional MRI on his abdomen. This is when the receptionist told us that they really didnt have time for the scan he was originally getting (not understanding this--he had an appointment!) let alone another scan on his abdomen. Okay whatever, he will just make another appointment. Then the receptionist proceeded to argue with us about using the contrast dye. She kept saying he doesnt need it, but the doc wanted it used to get a better image. She really frustrated Kevin, and hes hesitant to go back in there again.
After the Tripler trip, we came home, Kevin had lunch, and went back to work. I napped for a bit because of this insomnia crap. I made an appointment to see my doc on the 21st so hopefully I can get back into a good sleep pattern. I was going to go shopping this afternoon, but I had to be home for the maintenance person to come by and help us figure out why our water pressure is low. He said it was normal. I disagree. Frustrating but whatever.
Tomorrow Im going to spin class, and heading to the store immediately after to finish shopping for the kids so that I can mail their boxes for Christmas. Then its off to do some house cleaning and laundry. With any luck tomorrow will be productive :)

Insomnia.

Photobucket
I hate having insomnia. Last night we didnt get home until 11:15. At this point, both of us were feeling pretty tired, so we headed to bed. Once I got into bed, the insomnia started. I even tried going downstairs and watching tv to get sleepy. I didnt doze off until 3am! Then I woke up at 4, at 5, and again at 8am. I tried getting up at this point and eating breakfast, but after that I was suddenly tired (about time.) I ended up sleeping until 1pm!! 1 oclock!! This is one of the main reasons I hate insomnia. Once I do fall asleep, I end up sleeping until the afternoon, and I feel Ive wasted half the day :( I have decided that tomorrow I will be calling my PCM and getting something to help me sleep so that I can have more productive days. I have been using tylenol pm (which helps with my hip pain too) but I feel its not working as well as it should. Hopefully the doc will have some answers! I need to get back into sleeping well and getting up before 8am again!
Once I did get up today I decided to go down to Petco to get some Christmas gifts for Mia and Wyatt. I picked up some feather toys, some catnip toys, some treats, and some little fur balls they swat around. I also got some of Mia's favorite canned food :) I did pick up some different food for them too, simply because we have a suspicion that Wyatt has stomach sensitivity. Its still Purina, just more catered to sensitive tummies! I hope that helps him digest better :)
After Petco, I wandered over to Walmart across the street and picked up some toys for the nieces and nephew, as well as a couple of things for my mom, brother, and stepdad. The rest of my shopping for those guys will take place tomorrow.
Its going to be an early day tomorrow. Kevin has 2 doctor appointments at Tripler that start at 0800. Im excited about them, as we should be getting some answers from all of the recent tests that were done. After that and shopping, Im planning on finishing the desk up---its looking really great!!

Christmas shopping

Today Kevin and I ventured down to the Ala Moans shopping center to check out the stores and do a little Christmas shopping for the kids. We found some cute stuff for the younger kids! My other "kid" (Kevin) received his Christmas gift from me this afternoon as well. He got a 309 piece mechanics tool set and a toolbox that he has had his eye on for awhile. They were both on sale too, so I was excited to be able to get both for him! I have a feeling he will be spending some time in his garage tomorrow playing with his new toys :)
After shopping we went out to dinner and Hung out with another family in Kevins unit. Tomorrow I may go down to the pet store to get the babies a stocking and stocking stuffers! I love shopping for them :)
More tomorrow, have a great rest of the weekend!

TGIF

Photobucket
Today was a pretty busy day. This morning we went down to the hospital for Kevins appointment, plus I remembered I had to get bloodwork done, so we were there for awhile. After I dropped him off at work, I relaxed for a bit until he texted me to come get him. This afternoon was the battalion Christmas party. It was "mandatory fun" so Kevin had to be there. I dont mind these events, but the guys were looking at their watches every five minutes! It wasnt too bad, we chatted with some other T.I.'s and just hung out. The party was held in the hangar, so everything echoed! We stayed there until 5, then headed over to Just Taco's in Mililani. I had a margarita (shh dont tell anyone heehee)! Our food came out, and Kevin mentioned to the waitress that it was really cold, so the manager ended up coming over to us and giving us our meal on the house! He also offered free dessert (fried ice cream...yum) but I declined because we felt bad. We hooked the waitress up with a $20 tip though!! Now we are back at home, Kevin is in bed, and Im about to call it a night.
I do want to mention that I think we are officially climatized to Hawaii weather, because both of us wore hoodies to the Christmas party...it was chilly today!!! Im not complaining though--the gloominess went away and we actually saw sunlight for like the last 30 minutes of day today :)
Tomorrow the plan is to go Christmas shopping but I dont know if thats going to happen...depends on what Kevin wants to do. I will be putting the second coat of stain on the desk and desk drawers though! Hopefully that project will (finally) be done on Sunday afternoon!!

Hui Luncheon and progress on the desk!

Photobucket

I knew it. I just knew it would rain after I washed my car! Pfft, see if that Sebring gets washed again! Todays rain was a little different than any other time. It was pouring right before I left our house this morning...lame. I was going to flat iron my hair this morning but realized it would be a complete waste of time! Today was the monthly spouses club luncheon! The featured guest was the 25th infantry division band's brass quintet. They serenaded us with lovely holiday music while we ate lunch. They were really great and pretty cool to chat with! At the luncheon, I won a Sunday champagne brunch for 2 at the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki! Kevin and I are really excited about it :) Its been awhile since we have actually gone on a "date", so we are looking forward to a nice romantic brunch! There was also an ornament swap, and I picked out a pretty cute handmade ornament! After the luncheon, I headed home to put the first coat of stain on the desk and touched up the drawers. Im going to let it sit for at least 24 hours to make sure its completely dried before I do a light sanding and re-coat it. I think its going to turn out really nice! Ive tried looking up the manufacturer online, but all it tells me is that they were in business in the 50's and 60's. I would love to know more about it!
Tomorrow, we are starting our day with a lovely doctor appointment for Kevin. Then Im going to clean up the house some and maybe run by the grocery store. Kevins company is having a "mandatory fun" Christmas party tomorrow afternoon so we are heading over there after lunchtime (yay.) Off to eat a late dinner...more tomorrow!
