Day 3 at the Tripler Resort and Spa

My day started at 530am. I've been averaging around 3 hours of sleep a night, and its taking its toll on me. I don't mind too much though, I love being there when Kevin needs me. Ah, poor Kevin. He had a rough day today! No setbacks or anything, he just couldn't get comfy and he battled a fierce migraine he couldn't shake all afternoon. Some motrin finally stabilized it, but he says the headache is coming and going now. He was having some weird dreams with that headache as well. I broke down crying while I was next to him this afternoon because I don't want him to be in pain anymore and I just want him to feel better. I feel bad that there's nothing I can do for him. He assured me that it was okay, that he will be alright, but I'm still sad :(
On a positive note, despite his headache he was able to stand up for a couple of minutes today and sit on the bed with his feet on the floor for about an hour! He was also able to chat with a couple of coworkers who stopped by to check up on him! He started feeling drowsy between visitors though, and when his Platoon Sgt came, Kevin was kind of in and out and it was a short visit. I'm happy to say that now that his pain meds are stable, and his headache has gone away (mostly),he is sleeping pretty soundly next to me. I may try to go and get some shut eye :) Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive for Kevin! Good night!

Progress!!!

First, I want to update you on Kevin: I went to grab a drink and some chips at the little shop a few halls down, and by the time I got back to the room, Kevin was up in a chair and talking on the phone with his mom!!! I was only gone for like 20 minutes. I'm so proud of him! He is doing MUCH better today than yesterday, and they have only had to give him minimal insulin! They were going to move him from the ICU to a regular room today, but they didnt only because there was no room over in that ward. I'm happy he is feeling better! We have sat with each other today almost all day and chatted between his (and my) naps.
This morning, though went kind of crappy for me. I left Tripler to check on the cats and shower. no problem, I would be back in around 2 hours. When I got to my car, the darn tire was flat. F-L-A-T, flat. So I had to change the tire right there in the parking lot! Luckily a navy person stopped by and was able to help me get the stupid lug nuts off of the tire. I finally got home, ate a little, then called sprint to find out why my phone was being ghetto. Long story short, they had to do a hard reset....which means my contacts and my pictures were lost. Plus the lady took forever, so that made me run behind even more. I was able to take care of the kitties and shower, and I made it back rather quickly. Now I'm just hanging with Kevin and re-installing all of my apps! Tomorrow Kevin should get a new room, I will keep yall updated!

Surgery Day

Kevin and I arrived at the hospital at 0630 this morning. After finding out Kevin was #2 on the list, not #1 as we thought, he was finally called back to change and get ready to go to the O.R. At around 0930, they started his I.V. and took him away to the surgery area. I had to go back home because I left my sprint wireless internet card at home this morning (ugh not that it was much help, I havent been able to get on the internet all day). Anyway, I went right back to the hopital and proceeded to wait...........and wait.........and wait..........and wait. Around 330pm, the doctor came out and got me and told me that the surgery went well, but they needed to take about 5%  more of his pancreas than they originally thought. This wasnt incredibly good news because once they take more than 80%, the risk of getting diabetes skyrockets. They removed his spleen as well, which is standard when they take the tail of the pancreas. After a bit, I was finally able to go back and see him. He is in the ICU for tonight and possibly tomorrow because the doctors want to monitor his blood sugars very carefully to see what his pancreas can and cannot do. Hopefully it can function and keep his sugars at a normal level, otherwise he may need regular insulin injections. I am currently at the ICU waiting room, where I actually had to pay for some internet because A) my stupid cell phone wont turn back on, and B) the internet on my computer will not work (frustrating). I will continue to keep you guys updated and just wanted to let you know the surgery was a success!!!
Now I'm going back to watching the coverage of the Royal Wedding...I'm so excited, I cant wait to see what Kate is going to wear!!!!
Goodnight everyone!!!

Pre-Op

This morning, Kevin and I were up at 0530 to start the pre-op process at Tripler. It sounds pretty cut and dry: check in, meet with the anesthesiologist, get the run down on tomorrows agenda, and get out of there. Well, it went more like this: Check in, get paper with list of places to visit, go to waiting room, get called back for first thing on list, go back to the waiting room & wait, get called back for the next thing, back to the waiting room & wait, next thing on the list, etc. All in all it took around 3 hours to complete the process. The end result? Kevin has to check in tomorrow morning really early to get prepped, then he goes back for around 2-3 hours, then he goes to the ICU where I will finally get to see him, then begins the next few days of recovery. I will post more tomorrow evening and let you guys know how he did! Kevin and I tshank you guys so much for your thoughts and prayers, its going to be a looooooooonnnnnnng day tomorrow!
After the hospital, we came home, dropped a paper off to Kevins platoon sgt, went to the lab (again--yesterday Kevin got a call saying there was an accident with one of the vials and they had to re-do it), came home, finished deep cleaning the rugs, I mowed the yard, and I went to step class while Kevin made us a lovely steak and baked potato dinner! I'm sad to say I am completely out of gas and will be going upstairs in a matter of minutes. I didnt sleep well last night so I am TIRED. My step routine even suffered a bit tonight. With the combo of no sleep and my legs still screaming at me from kickboxing and spin yesterday, I only ran at about 80% through what was a really easy routine. That being said (or typed?), I'm going to spend some nice quality time with my amazing husband and try to get some sleep. Good night yall!

Positive vibes for tomorrow!!!

Pre-Surgery appointment

This morning was....interesting. I originally planned to go to spin class and zumba this morning, so I got up and had breakfast, then made my way upstairs to get changed. Literally as I was picking out my clothes for the gym, Kevin got a call from his doctor asking us to come in 4 hours before our originally scheduled appointment (which was at 2:15pm). So we stopped by the hospital on Schofield to get some blood drawn, then headed over to Tripler to make the (new) 10am appointment. The appointment was really informative! Heres whats going to happen on Thursday: Kevin will go under the knife and the doctors will be taking about 80% of his pancreas out, plus his spleen, and possibly his gallbladder (depending on what that little growth is all about). To answer your question, yes, he can live a completely normal life without most of his pancreas, his spleen, and his gallbladder. Because the lesions were found on multiple parts of his pancreas, the doc has decided to take the majority of it out. It is a major surgery, and poor Kevin will be out of commission for at least 2-4 weeks, but not really feeling 100% for 6-8 weeks. He will be in the hospital for about a week or more, depending on how well he does healing-wise. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, he is really nervous about this surgery, and can you blame him?? He is going to be in alot of pain. I hope this surgery corrects his calcium rise, because I really want him to start feeling better!!! I'm going to make every effort to keep you guys informed, so pray my wireless card gets signal in the hospital!!
After the appointment, we headed to Buffalo Wild Wings (my idea ;) ), and I proceeded to demolish 18 wings. Yeah, 18. Guess I was hungrier than I thought! No, its not what youre thinking, I eat more right before that time of the month, so its nothing unusual. I made up for it by going to kickboxing AND spin class tonight though! While I was getting my workout on, Kevin was at home steamcleaning the man room. We rented a steam cleaner today, and we are hoping to get the whole house done by tomorrow afternoon.
Tomorrow morning, we have an appointment with the anesthetist bright and early. Basically, he or she will be going over the "itinerary" of Thursdays events, start to finish. They will be briefing Kevin on the anesthesia procedure as well. I've had these appointments before, for all of my hip surgeries and my back surgery, so Im sure they will go over most of the same kind of stuff. Kevins surgery is set to start at 7:30am, so we have to be there by 6:30. The surgery will last approximately 2-3 hours, depending on how stubborn his pancreas is being, and whether or not the docs decide to take out his gallbladder. I will have more info tomorrow though!
Have a good night everyone, and I will keep you posted!

Monday Stuff

Today was non-stop. I started the day with step class (I was on point the entire time, go me!), came home and cleaned the house a little, then went with Kevin to get an immunization shot to prepare for his upcoming surgery on Thursday. We were in and out of Tripler in like 45 minutes, and most of that time was spent getting in the gate, parking, and getting to the allergy clinic. Once we got back, I cleaned the house some more (never ending job *sigh*) while Kevin napped, then cooked dinner (roasted whole chicken--yummo!).
I really wanted to go to zumba tonight, so I ate really fast and headed down to the gym for the second time today. I felt so much better after dancing :) Have I told y'all how much I really really love zumba??? Well, I do!! I will be going tomorrow as well, since I will not be in the gym for at least the rest of the week after Wednesday. Kevin will be in recovery and I want to give him all of my attention :)
Other than the gym tomorrow, I will be renting a steam cleaner to steam clean the carpets upstairs. We discovered our houseguests' cat marked in the man room in the corner. Yeah, we arent happy. I'm annoyed because we have only been in this house for 6 months, and we have to steam clean the carpet already.
Anyway, Kevin also has an appointment with General Surgery to talk about his surgery. I really hope this makes him feel better! I miss my workout buddy :(
More tomorrow, good night!

Happy Easter!

Tonights post is going to be really short and sweet because I have a bit of a headache and we want to head to bed early. This morning we slept in a little, then headed out to get Kevin a haircut. While we were in the PX, we went over to sporting goods and found Kevin a workout bench that was $100 cheaper than the one we found at Sears yesterday--and it had more features!
Anyway, after we put the bench in the car, we headed over to the Acute Care Clinic. Kevin wanted to go because he has been getting some lower chest/stomach pain since Friday's procedure. We ended up spending almost 4 hours in the freaking clinic, and were sent to get X-Rays 3 different times because the doc just couldnt get the right angle. It was a nightmare, and we ended up leaving with no diagnosis. Kevin was pisssssssssed. He has to go to sick call tomorrow morning (which he says will be no help--thats why I plan to go with him) to try and get a profile until after surgery recovery because he is getting short of breath easily in addition to the belly pain. *sigh* I just hope he feels better soon.
I had planned to do laundry, clean the house, and mow the yard, but because we were at the clinic for so long, I can only get the laundry done. Oh well, tomorrow after step class I plan on cleaning the house and mowing the yard. I'm also planning on going to zumba tomorrow night!
I hope everyone had a great Easter!!

Busy day!

My day started with step class, of course! Afterwards, I stopped by the ITR Travel Fest thing they were doing and scored some info on a bunch of places! Alot of places had really great specials for the month of May, and this is perfect because Kevins mom and aunt are coming out here to visit in May! Now I have a whole list of things to do while theyre here!
At the travel fest, I got a text from Kevin saying he wanted to go back to Sears to get a new mattress. Sears had the best deal, and we got a $1200 mattress for around $530. Yay for 60% off!! Kevin also picked up one of his tax presents to himself, a 300lb total weight set he wanted for his man room. He was going to get the weight bench he wanted as well, but it was out of stock. The nice guy at Sears gave us a raincheck though, and we will be picking it up when they give us a call letting us know its in.
For lunch we decided to try out California Pizza Kitchen, and it was delicious! Plus our waiter had really great customer service skills, so we will be going back soon! I was able to talk to the General Manager and let him know what a great employee he has. Ahhhh good customer service always puts me in a better mood! In fact, the lady at Sears that sold us the mattress (she remembered us from coming in the other day too!), the guy at Sears who sold us the weight set, and California Pizza Kitchen waiter, all had great customer service skills. I was impressed!
Once we got home, we offloaded and put the weight bar and weights upstairs in the man room, and have been lazily hanging out ever since. We had a great day, even though Kevin is still not 100% from his procedure yesterday. He has been complaining of dull pains in his upper belly/chest area, so if it hasnt gone away by tomorrow morning, we are headed to the doc. He said its not sharp, knife-in-belly pains, but its more annoying than anything. They did poke around in there alot yesterday! I will keep you posted though!
Tomorrow is going to be a low-key day. I've got to catch up on housework I've been procrastinating on too busy to do this past week, and I have got to mow the yard. We have an excessive amount of weeds growing amongst the grass, and if I yank all of them, I will have big dirt patches over like half of the yard. I'm thinking of calling maintenance to see if they know what kind of grass is out there, and I will plant it myself. I just want a nice yard, is that too much to ask?
Ah well, good night yall!

What a day!

*First, I apologize if I ramble too much or this entry doesnt make sense. I'm running off of 2 hours of sleep and we spent a good chunk of the day @ Tripler*

This morning, I was able to get up and go to step class! My brain wasnt functioning at 100% in there though, because I got 2--yes,2 hours of sleep last night. My insomnia kicked in like crazy, and I was wide awake at 1:30am. I finally dozed off around 2:30, but was awakened by Kevins phone going off at 3AM. Dozed back off around 3:30-4ish. Was again awakened by psycho cats at 5am. Couldnt fall completely back asleep until 6:15. Kevins phone went off AGAIN. Same number as the 3am caller too! I pick up the phone and who was it? VERIZON. I tried to tell the lady (as calmly as I could) that we live in Hawaii, and calling at 3am doesnt fly here. She caught attitude and told me they go by the area code on the number. I asked her if they bothered checking the address on file because then they would see that, again, we live in Hawaii. She was like, "Oh, well can you have Kevin call us please?" Ugh, what a bee-otch. No apology, nothing. Blah, so that was the start to my day.
After step class, I headed over to the PX to get a couple of shirts. When I got home, I had just enough time to shower and head down to Tripler.
Kevin had to be there at 12:15 to get officially admitted for his procedure (the procedure was slated to start at one). Once we were upstairs, they had him change into a hospital gown, and they did the I.V. thing. We waited a bit, then he went back to a room and the doc got started. The procedure didnt take very long, but Kevin was in the recovery room for like an hour and a half. Long story short, we were all done and left the hospital around 5. The docs findings: Tiny lesions on the tail of his pancreas, a lesion on the head of the pancreas, and a tiny little mass on his gallbladder. The doc will report his findings to Dr. Lim, and on Tuesday of next week, we start talking about the specifics of the upcoming surgery. Kevin was really loopy and sleepy when he came out, poor guy. We were waiting on the doc to show us the final report, and Kevin fell asleep in the chair and started snoring really loud haha. Once we left the hospital, Kevin wanted a smoothie and Chinese Food (he had to fast, so my poor guy hadnt eaten since 6pm last night!). So thats what we had for dinner! As soon as we got home, he promptly went upstairs and fell asleep!
Tomorrow, I'm going to sneak off to step class, and I really dont know what we are doing in the afternoon hours. The doc put Kevin on 48 hour quarters, so he is unable to work tomorrow night as he was scheduled. He felt bad telling his boss that, but it involves him driving a gov't vehicle around, so we want to make sure ALL of the medications have worn off by the time he does anything like that! I'm off to sleep now, finally.

Rescheduled procedure

Yesterday, I talked about Kevin having a procedure today that would sedate him so that the doctor could look at his pancreas with a camera and ultrasound inserted down his throat. Well, the doctor apparently just wanted to talk to us today. He was very thorough and gave us detailed info on the procedure. He rescheduled it for tomorrow afternoon, so tomorrows post will have more detail.
This morning I shammed out of spin (WTH is wrong with me??), but still did Zumba! Towards the end of class I got a bit nauseous (Its not what you guys are thinking.), so that slowed me a bit. Thank goodness it was almost cool down time and we didnt do "Footloose" like we usually do. That song is my favorite because its so high energy and just fun to dance to!
After the appointment, Kevin and I hit up Target where I got some new workout gear! We had dinner at Chili's, celebrating the ETS of one of Kevins co-workers. We couldnt miss that, as this guy made night shift bearable. He's a really nice, funny person, and he will be missed greatly!
Tomorrow, other than Kevins procedure, I plan on going to step class, and hope I get home in time tomorrow afternoon to go to zumba. If not, I will do zumba for wii. Good night folks!

Pampered Chef shindig and a mixer!

I didnt make it to kickboxing this morning.....mostly because I chose sleep over workout again. Blah, whatever, I havent been sleeping well lately anyway.
Today I spent some time waiting for the UPS person to deliver my new KitchenAid mixer I have been so patiently waiting for. While Kevin was home on lunch, I was able to go to a Pampered Chef party hosted by my friend Chantal! We enjoyed cranberry-apple twists, and had a great time chatting! I ended up ordering a few small things for our kitchen--a citrus peeler, a set of 3 flexible cutting mats, and a new vegetable peeler! I want the pineapple cutter, but that will be for another time! I actually want a few more things from there, so maybe next month I will place another order :) If you guys want to order anything, FB message me or leave a comment and I will put you in touch with Chantal!
After the party, I hightailed it home to continue waiting for UPS. When I got home though, I was pleasantly suprised to find a big KitchenAid box on our front porch! Apparently, the delivery person came in the 40 minute timeframe between when Kevin went back to work and I came home. The driver was really great about pushing it back up against my house as much as possible so it wasnt visible. Sometimes living on the far end of the street has its perks! :) Anyway, the mixer is all set up!

Isnt it awesome??? I just HAD to use it today (but I didnt really have time to bake cookies or anything), so I decided to make homemade mashed potatoes to go with our dinner tonight and it only took 15 seconds to mash them up! Plus, it did a really great job! I cant wait to make cookies with it on Friday/Saturday!!
Tomorrow, I'm getting up and going to spin class, followed by zumba! After that, I have to hightail it home to shower and go with Kevin to Tripler so he can have a pre- surgery procedure done. Basically the docs want to put a camera down his throat and down to his pancreas, so they can have a live view. This will help them better prepare and plan his surgery. Well, they have to sedate my poor love for the procedure, so he will not be able to drive afterwards. I am fascinated to see what they find in there!
More tomorrow :)

Tuesday Stuffs

I slept in today. Kinda. I wasnt able to fall asleep until 2:30am, was woken up at 4:30, 5:30, 7, and finally got up at 8:30. So my morning was really low key (due to lack of energy). I did muster up enough energy to head to the gym at 11:45 and shake it at zumba though!!! After class, I chatted with Annie for a bit, then headed to the store for some loose powder makeup, among other things. I didnt stay long, because mama needed a shower lol. I did grab a smoothie on my way out :D
I spent the afternoon reading blogs, and facebooking (is that even a word?), while relaxing on the couch with my Mia. I heart my little cuddle bugs!!
I'm feeling pretty good today, better than I thought I would after the IUI. I am taking it a little easier at the gym, just until we find out whether or not we have a little one in the oven :) I am going to keep my routine though! Tomorrow, I am going to go to kickboxing (for once!), then heading over to Christinas for Chantals Pampered Chef party! I have put Kevin on "lunchtime delivery person lookout" while I'm gone, because tomorrow........THIS COMES!!!!!

This thing is freakin' sweet! Its the KitchenAid Artisan 5 quart mixer in Onyx Black (to match our Black/Stainless steel theme).I love to bake, and this is the best mixer on the market right now! Well, other than the professional series one, but I liked this design better! Bonus- I spent about $150 less (including shipping) than I would have buying it from a store here on island (NEX/PX included). It was at a substantial discount, score!!! I'm excited to start using it for cupcakes, ,cookies, homemade bread, muffins, biscuits, and even mashed potatoes :D It was my "tax splurge" and I cant wait for it to be delivered! Looks like Im going to have to kickbox and speed out of there instead of doing arms like I want to.....
Other than the mixer coming and the Pampered Chef party, my day is pretty free! Wii Zumba, anyone??

Goodnight yall!!

IUI

Today was our scheduled IUI, so I didnt go to the gym and instead decided to take it easy this morning. I slept in, and when Kevin went to work, I made homemade sugar cookies!

I tried icing them with Betty Crocker cookie icing, but I didnt like the way they were looking, so I will be picking up some wilton cookie icing tomorrow. They taste a little more flour-y than I would like, but overall not bad for my first time making them from scratch!!
Anyway, once Kevin got home, I got ready for our appointment and he did his *um* part for the IUI. Thankfully the procedure went as planned, and my cervix cooperated. However, I'm not sure we hit my ovulation time, as I was supposed to ovulate around today, but I havent noticed any ovulation signs. I hope it comes within 24 hours, if not Kevin and I have decided to continue trying next month, even though he will miss the birth. This saddens me (I really want him there), but he wants to be a dad so we are going to keep trying! Besides, I'm thankful for things like skype, so he may not be here physically, but he will still "be" there, ya know?
After the appointment, we dropped by the Education office for Kevin, then continued our search for a new mattress. The furniture store on post didnt have any good ones :( We also went to the travel office to try and get our hotel deposit--well what we thought was a deposit--back because we will no longer be going on our vacation. Its almost 2 months in advance that we are notifying them, and the travel office says we cant get our money back!!! At all!!! This pisses me off because why the hell should they get over a hundred bucks when we arent going to even set foot on their property??? The travel office lady told us that they charge for the first night whether we end up staying or not. This doesnt make sense to me and I will be calling KMC tomorrow to get our money back.
Its been a long and exciting day, but hopefully good things will come. We are starting the "2 week wait" to see if the IUI worked. The doctor said I could resume normal gym activity, so tomorrow I am going to Zumba :) Good night folks!!

Sunday's Post

Well, today we have some good news and some not so good news. The not so good news is that we have decided to postpone our anniversary trip to the Big Island to September-ish. This is because Kevin is having surgery at the end of the month and the recovery time will be 6-8 weeks. Also, he will be doing pre-deployment training in July-August timeframe. Are we bummed? Yeah. However, the good news is that we can spoil ourselves a little with our tax refund, so Kevin is getting a new weight bench and weights for the man room, and I am getting the KitchenAid mixer I've had my eye on for like, ever. We are also going to splurge on a *gasp* new mattress!!! Haha you know youre getting old when you get excited about mattress shopping!! We want a new mattress and the spare room needs the guest bed put up. Why? Because Kevins mom is coming to visit next month!!! We are thrilled to be getting visitors (finally), and she wants to hang out with Kevin a little post surgery. She wanted to come out for his surgery, but the plane tickets are outrageous (go figure). This is better because then Kevin will get to show his mom around the island and enjoy everything with us, instead of being holed up in the house right after his surgery. I've already started planning her itinerary hehe
I wanted to make my sugar cookies tonight, but we got home from the mall a little later than we wanted to, so I will be making them tomorrow night or Tuesday. I want to take it easy after the IUI. By the way, I think I may have figured out why the HSG went well, but the tubal flush didnt. While reading about IUI online, it says that women with a stubborn cervix (me, me!!) can help the process by going into the procedure with a full bladder. Well, the stupid nurse told me to empty my bladder and I did...both times. Tomorrow Im going in with a full bladder and reporting my findings to Dr Foley. That could explain why my HSG went so painless and smooth!
Please lord let that be the problem, because I dont want to be disappointed tomorrow. We are really excited about this procedure and reading all of the successes with the first try really makes me feel better. Ah well, we will see what happens!
Tonight is our weekly "cuddle in bed and watch our shows" night, so I'm getting off of the computer now :)

*Wish us luck tomorrow, we really really need it!*

This doesn't look good....

Our day started at 0430. We got up, helped our houseguests load everything they owned (including the cat) into the car, and took them to the airport. Everything went smoothly on the Hawaii end for them, and soon Kevin and I were on our way back home for a few minutes to eat something before my appointment.
Yeah, I really dont have much to say about todays appointment. It ended the same way yesterdays appointment ended. My damn cervix isnt cooperating, and now I'm scared we wont be able to go through with the IUI. We are still going to try though. The doc gave me more medicine to relax my cervix, but theres a chance the lining will shed and the egg wont burrow. We decided to go for it anyway. I mean, what do we have to lose? This is the last month we can try, so we are going all out. I left the doctors office pretty heartbroken.
Anyway, Kevin and I took a nap this afternoon, and I decided I wanted to make chocolate chip cookie cupcakes and vanilla almond sugar cookies from scratch this weekend, so I went to the commissary. I ended up doing some regular grocery shopping too :)
This evening Kevin made his delicious chili, and we cuddled up on the couch to watch Swamp People, which we DVR'd the other night. Its one of our TV obsessions! Kevin wants to stay up late tonight, but I may hit the hay soon. My day has been really upsetting, with the doc appointment and the fact that we may have to give up our much anticipated vacation because Kevin doesnt know how long the recovery time is for his surgery. Plus he is worried that his commander wont approve his 7 days of leave after he takes convalescent. I may just go and talk to the commander myself and explain that this leave was planned long before the surgery was and that we are unable to get our money back for things like the flight. The commander is pretty approachable (its another "member of management" thats questionable.). So we really dont know whats going to happen in the next few weeks. All I know is that I'm praying extra hard that we are able to have some success on Monday.

Part One

Today after step class I had an appointment to have a tubal flush. Basically it makes sure all of my pipes are clear for Mondays IUI procedure. Well, its only supposed to take 15 minutes or so for the flush. My body didn't want to cooperate though. My cervix was being stubborn and the doctor was shocked that my HSG back in November went so easily. Anyway after about an hour of trying with no luck, my doc gave me some medicine that would dilate my cervix so that the procedure could be completed. Well, the medicine takes a bit to work, so I will be going back in the office tomorrow to get it done. I will miss step class, but Kevin will get to go with me, which is awesome. I should mention that the meds they gave me made me bloated and uncomfortable as all get out. I try not to get too worked up over the little things, because I know all of this will be worth it in the end :)
This evening Kevin and I were treated to dinner by our wonderful houseguests as a thank you for us letting them stay with us these past couple weeks. We went to a place called Buzz's Steakhouse, and let me just say that their food is delicious; and their customer service is top notch! We would definitely eat there again! We headed home afterwards because our dear friends had to pack for their trip off the island tomorrow. We are also getting up at 5am to take them . To the airport. We are going to miss them, but we are excited that they get to start a new adventure (as well as start their family- Samantha found out she is pregnant last week!) After we say so long, we are going to my appointment, then relaxing the rest of the day. I will let you guys know how it goes! Good night!

T is for Thursday

I was off today. All day. Just off. First I get to spin class, and 15 minutes in I get a text from Kevin that I wont share on here but lets just say it was a personal matter and I needed to leave the gym right away. To make him feel better, I grabbed a little Starbucks love on the way :) After that, I was able to go to zumba class, but I didnt feel as limber as I usually do in there, and I kept getting cramps on the left side of my abdomen causing me to slow down and skip moves all together. I did make it through class, but the cramp hung out awhile afterwards. At this point I just decided to head home and shower, and proceeded to spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing on the couch. I hate doing that because I get lazy and dont want to do anything!!! In positive news, I have officially lost 20 lbs since our wedding!!!! For sporadically going to the gym June-August, and not going to the gym at all from End of August- mid October, I think I did pretty well!!! I'm slowly continuing to lose which is a really good thing because if I get pregnant soon, my hip and my back can handle the weight gain. It feels nice to accomplish my fitness goals and know I've worked hard! I sure miss french fries though sometimes :P
Anyway, in other news, my doctor told me at my last appt to get an ovulation predictor kit (for obvious reasons.). Today I started using it, and it came back negative, which means I'm not too close to ovulating yet. This is a good thing, we want to see a positive result on Sunday, so when we do the IUI , it puts us at the best possible time!
Tomorrow I am going in for a tubal flush, which means Dr Foley will be cleaning out any potential blockages in my fallopian tubes or uterus, so its nice and clear for Mondays procedure. Tomorrow and Saturday will probably be my last days in the gym until Weds or Thurs of next week. I'm going to try and take it easy after the procedure. I *may* go to spin on Tuesday, but I will be on the lower spectrum of cardio activity :)
Other than the appointment tomorrow afternoon and step class in the morning, I havent quite decided what I'm going to do with my day. I hope its nice so I can lay out hehe
Until tomorrow!

Hump Day Happenings

I love Wednesdays. I actually got to sleep in until almost 10am this morning!!! The cats were being good, it was quiet, and I woke up a happy camper! My morning was spent being L-A-Z-Y. When Kevin came home around 12ish, I finally decided to get up and get ready for the day. We headed down to Tripler this afternoon for Kevins CT scan. Suprisingly, it didnt take very long at all! Kevin had to fast this morning, so we immediately hit up Chilis in Waikele after we left the hospital. When we got back to Wheeler, I dropped Kevin off, headed to Starbucks to get him a coffee, and by that time he was about to get off of work so I picked him back up :)
Our evening has been spent laying around doing a whole lot of nothing. I promise tomorrows post should be livlier! I will be doing spin class and zumba, plus I still need to trim the weeds around the fence. I really want to take the camera out and practice a little photography as well, but we will see! Its also Tropic Thunder Thursday, so Kevin *may* be getting out early (Im not holding my breath.).
Just a few days to go until the IUI, and not much else has been on my mind. I'm very excited about it, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much! We are really hoping this works, otherwise we are going to stop actively trying until November/December. Fingers crossed yall!

Random Tuesday

Ahh, spin class. Nothing like biking "up a steep hill" to get your blood flowing and wake you up for the day! I pushed it hard today in class, probably the most challenging spin workout I've had! I love that I'm feeling much stronger than I have in a long time, and I love that all of my hard work is paying off. I'm getting pretty close to a flat belly :D
I wasnt really feeling like cleaning today, so after spin I just focused on the kitchen instead of the upstairs, floors, AND kitchen. The rest of the day was spent reading and surfing the web. What an exciting life I lead :)
I meant to lay out in the backyard and play Wii, but I got lazy lol
Tomorrow is my normal morning off from the gym, but I may go to kickboxing since I will be taking it easy for a few days after the procedure next week. Gotta get my fitness fix in before I virtually sit on the couch for 3 days.... I'm hoping I can go to classes next week, but its up to the doctor. Kevin also has an appointment at Tripler tomorrow afternoon. Translation: I get him for the last half of the workday...kinda. When he isnt in getting his CT scan, that is :)

Gym Class-aholic

The gym classes I take are really addicting! This morning I did step class, and I was a half an hour early to zumba so I did the last 15 minutes of the 5pm step class, plus I did zumba! Don't worry mom, I'm not overdoing it, but I do feel much stronger and way more in shape than I have in years! These group classes are just what I needed :) Plus they're so fun, and I look forward to *gasp* getting up early and making my way to the gym every morning. Another great perk to going is that I have awesome amounts of energy afterwards, so I can easily get my housework and errands done :)
Anyway, between classes, I did my bi-weekly bathroom scrubdown as well as other chores...joy. I also spent some time catching up on news and reading blogs! After zumba, I chatted it up with Annie and Jessica until it got cold (yeah it gets chilly here at night!), then headed home to cuddle with Kevin (my favorite part of the day:) )
Tomorrow I'm going to spin cycling class in the morning, and I'm so excited because we bought a soft gel-y seat cover for my mountain bike yesterday and I'm going to try it out at spin! All of my housework is almost done, so I will be going to the education center to talk to a college representative about starting classes soon! I may play a little Wii as well :P Goodnight yall!

Sunday...

Well, I sorta kinda got to sleep in today. At 630, I awoke to Stitch and Wyatt tearing through the house like madmen, with Mia being equally annoying. I fell back asleep, and at 730ish my lovely neice called me not once, not twice, but three times in a row. Yes I know it wasnt an emergency either. So I put the phone on virbrate and went back to sleep. More crazy cat shenanigans followed. By 930 I couldnt take it anymore and just got up.
Kevin and I hung out on the couch most of the morning, and in the afternoon we went out for a bit and got a few things for our bikes and just looked around the store. We had a lovely steak dinner with the Garza's and then we proceeded to have the most delicious cupcakes EVER! The fabulous Annie made these s'more inspired cupcakes the other day and was so very gracious enough to save 4 of them for us! You can read her blog Here! Anyway, I took a picture of mine before I devoured it.

To answer your question, YES it was as good as it looks! Thanks again Annie, they were a really big hit in our house and a fabulous ending to our steak dinner!!!
Time for some Animation Domination and heading to bed early because Kevin has a PT test tomorrow. Plus, I have step class in the morning :D Good night folks!

Saturday Evening Post

Guess what has two thumbs and didn't get to sleep in today? This gal. In fact, I woke up 45 minutes earlier than I usually do during the week? Why? Crazy cats driving me insane! So yeah, I was up at 6:20 am....on a Saturday. Grrrr....
Whatever, I just stayed up and decided to go to the gym with Samantha. We did the 1015am spin class, and I must say I shammed the first half, but kicked it into high gear the last half :)
Since it was nice (enough) today, we all decided to go to the pool when Kevin got out of class. I was the only one to go down the slide, whats up with that? If the wind wasnt blowing so much and the water wasnt as cold, I probably would have done a couple of dives as well. Everyone else was a wussy pants.
We then proceeded to spend way too much money at the commissary, but we have sweet dinners coming up for the next 2 days! Tomorrow, I AM sleeping in!!!!!!!!! I am even taking some sleeping pills to help out with that. Any cat who disturbs me gets a bath. So Mia is pretty much the only one who is going bath free tomorrow LOL
We are actually planning on doing nothing but spending time together and relaxing tomorrow, so tomorrow nights post will probably be boring haha. Maybe I will bust the camera out and share a few pictures :) Goodnight!!

Crisis averted.....for now.

As pretty much everyone knows, the government didnt shut down. Thank goodness, because our pay was showing less than half of what we normally get and we were preparing to move some stuff around bills wise. That, and Im glad our men and women in uniform wont be working for no pay.
Today was an on-the-seat-of-your-pants day, but it was alright! My friend Samantha and I hit up step class this morning, which was really fun! I felt kinda bad for her though--she hadnt done step in forever, and of course the instructor had a completely new routine for us today (that was very advanced). So poor Sam was so lost, and I got lost as well trying to pick up the new moves! After step, we suprised her husband with a smoothie, and I dropped by to say hello to Kevin :)
Alot of the afternoon was spent keeping an eye on the looming government shutdown, plus we went to the commissary to grab some stuff for homemade tacos tonight! Samantha and Joe got some really great news this evening as well, so it really has been a good day!
Tomorrow I'm debating sleeping in or going to the 9am class at the gym. Its called Body Sculpt, and from what I understand, its alot like Core and More, which focuses on the belly and back. I'm kind of hesitant to go, because I cannot do much back work, especially on a pilates ball. My back doesnt bend because of the hardware, so things like that are difficult. I may check it out and just leave if I'm unable to do it. Then again, I may just sleep in...........
Hoping its nice tomorrow, Sam and I want to hit up the pool! Yeah, we're 5.
Buenos Noches amigos y familia!!

Tropic Thunder Thursday

I wanted to sleep in today. 2 cats didnt let me. Thank you Mia for being a good girl and leaving mommy alone. Wyatt and Stitch- is it really necessary to run around in our room like crazy men at 7am??? You have a WHOLE downstairs to play. Crazy cats.
Anyway, I had zumba class this morning, then came home and was hoping to get the lawn mowed. It was nice for 15 minutes, but then a dark cloud passed by so I decided to wait until after Kevin went back to work to mow it. Well, it was nice just long enough for me to mow, clean the mower, and sweep the grass clippings off of the porch, before it started pouring. Whew! Now I just have to trim the weeds along the fence.
The rest of the day was spent surfing the web....and reading 45856959874 stories on the government shut down. Its a really hot topic among us military families, especially those in which the military member is the only one that works. I'm not going to go all political, but they need to cut the crap and decide on a budget. Its what they get PAID to do. Ugh, I'm still hopeful that the shutdown will not occur.
Tomorrow, I'm going to step class in the morning, and praying the weather stays nice enough for me to trim the fenceline. If not, I feel it will be a Wii kind of afternoon :)

Kevin's progress

Today, Kevin and I headed up to Tripler so that he could meet with his endocrinologist. We hadn't seen her in awhile, so she had a ton of info for us. Here is the cliffs notes version : She talked to the General Surgeon and he said that Kevin should have his surgery by the end of this month!! We actually did not know that until she told us. We thought he needed the CT scan and chest x-ray results first, but I guess not. Kevin still has to get those done though!! The endocrinologist was very excited about Kevin getting this surgery done right away. If it turns out that the itty bitty pancreas tumor isnt causing his calcium rise, then we will have to do further testing with whom the endocrinologist calls "The M.E.N.1 Guru", who is conveniently located in Bethesda, Maryland. I really hope this surgery takes care of his calcium rise, because I dont want Kevin to go through all of that travel and stress, especially when he is going to be doing pre-deployment training around it. Blah, I just want Kevin to feel better :( Anyway, so basically after the CT Scan and x-ray, we will call the General Surgery doc, and he will schedule the surgery. Oh, and we got some heartbreaking news at the end of the visit. The endocrinologist is leaving in May!!! We are super upset because she is WONDERFUL and I dont think we will get such a caring, thorough doctor ever again. Especially in the military portion. I know she will do great at her new location and I am super excited for her future patients because I know they are going to get great care!
After the appointment, Kevin had some breakfast and headed back to work while I removed a VIRUS off of my computer. I wanted to mow the grass this afternoon since it was fairly cool and overcast all day, but right as I was returning to Wheeler from the store, it started downpouring. Thanks, you couldnt have waited an hour?? Whatever, I did some online reading and played a 45 minute session of Wii Zumba!!! I wanted to play more, but dinner cant make itself, so I shut the game off and fattened up my hubby a little more ;)
Tomorrow, I will be going to Zumba at the gym, and I cant wait! I feel like I havent gotten a really GREAT workout since last Saturday due to *ahem* "monthly fatigue" if you know what I mean. Hopefully the lawn will stay dry enough for me to cut the darn thing. See you folks tomorrow!

Continuing the process...

Today I had my follow up appointment with my OB/GYN to discuss the results of my blood test. Well, as I already knew, I am ovulating! Which means the next step is IUI and that will take place around the 19th depending on when exactly I ovulate. We are incredibly excited to try this and are very optimistic. Obviously we are hoping for the best possible result, but this is the absolute last month I can get pregnant in order for my due date to be before Kevin deploys. It is really important to me that he be there for the birth, especially since we have gone through all of this to get there. So if the IUI doesn't work, we are *planning* to stop trying until December or so. Nevertheless I will keep you guys updated!
Other than the appointment, I went to spin class and relaxed today. Tomorrow Kevin has a morning appt at Tripler, but I have nothing else planned. I may go to the water park they have on the island with a friend! It's been a long day, so I'm going to bed. Goodnight :)

Spring Cleaning....

Yeah, I think I officially started that today. After step class (which I became super tired during btw. WTHeck??), I came home and started on the kitchen. Well, at some point this afternoon I found myself windex-ing windows too. Let me just say that the straight line full of kitty nose prints all the way across the windows were cute :) I usually do window cleaning when I do a super deep clean or when I start spring cleaning. Anyway, they look nice and my door is red mud free......for now. I finally got all of the junk off of the tech table in our dining room yay! Embarrassingly enough, that stuff had been there since we moved in.
Kevin had a half day today because he had to work a full day last Friday, where as everyone else was out by 1 for "Payday Activities". I love extra time with my honey :) We hung out, I finished laundry, and then we headed out to grab a coffee (for him) and a smoothie (for moi). During our outing, we remembered that the NCAA National Championship was on, so we dropped by the grocery store real quick and hurried home to watch the last little bit of it. Tonight is going to be an early night for us. I havent been sleeping well at ALL for the past couple of weeks, so I'm beat. Maybe thats why I was so sleepy during step class this morning. I had all of this energy when I got there, but 20 minutes in I felt like I got hit by a Mack Truck! It could be that AF is hovering around and should be making her monthly appearance tomorrow or Wednesday. Blah, I'm going to bed early tonight :)
Tomorrow, after spin, I have a doctor appointment with Dr Foley. He is going to give me the results of my bloodwork I got done Thursday. I will let you guys know what happens!!!!!!!!
